2007 – 2008 Season

The players have enjoyed a successful season by winning the Sporting Touch Division by 6 points.

After 14 games, we came away with a record of winning 12, drawing 1 and losing 1.

We scored 100 goals and conceded only 12. Both of these were the best in the division. We beat our highest scoring record three times during the season with a 12-0 win in the first game against Westfield Spartans.

We then beat NCYP 18-0. We followed this by beating them 19-0 but the game was abandoned after 40 minutes as several of their players walked off the pitch.

Confidence was high at the start of the season and we hit the top of the division after the second week of fixtures. We remained there until the end of February when Westfield Wanderers took over on goal difference but had finished their league games. We still had two to play, against tough opposition in Bedworth and Bulkington but we came away with two comprehensive victories.

Things could have turned out a lot worse though. Goalkeeper Adam broke and fractured a finger in several places in January with us still to play three league games and at least one cup game. Guy, Ryan and Ross played in goal for the remaining games and all gave great displays.

We didn't fair so well in the cup games. We started off with the toughest of draws in the two internal cups. The Police Cup saw us up against the second placed team in the top division, Haunchwood and in the league cup against the top team and undefeated champions, Bedworth Juniors.

We overcame Haunchwood 2-1 with a great display but were knocked out in the next round by Bedworth Boys. We had a disappointing day as we had around 20 attempts on goal to Bedworth's 2. They scored 1 to our nil!

The game against the Juniors was always going to be hard but we gave them a real fright. We held them until just before half time and then were caught right at the end of the game for their second in the 0-2 defeat.

Overall though, a fantastic season capped by winning the league for the first time. Its been a long time coming but we have assembled a team that finally produced when the big games came along.

Well done lads, a really great achievement.
